Where is your bakery?

I am a licensed and insured home bakery in Campbell, near San Jose, California. I specialize in custom cakes for celebrations all over the Bay Area, from Walnut Creek to Santa Cruz, down in the Valley and up in the mountains. As a home bakery, I am sorry I am not able to welcome drop-in visitors, but am always happy to meet by appointment. I have been decorating cakes for 15 years and opened The Royal Bakery in 2010. How much does a cake cost?

Every cake is different and prices depend on the number of servings and complexity of design. My Price Guide will give you some idea, however. I will always try to design something to fit your budget, although I do have a minimum order of $250.

Do your cakes taste as good as they look?

Absolutely. I would not still be working with the same clients after ten years if they didn't! Each tier consists of four layers of freshly-baked, never-frozen, cake. Each layer is lightly drizzled with flavored syrup to keep it perfectly moist, then spread with not-too-sweet Swiss meringue buttercream. The freshness is sealed in with a coating of delicious white or dark chocolate ganache to give a smooth and stable surface for an ultra-thin layer of fondant. 

Other than the most basic buttercream finishes, all of my cakes are decorated with fondant. It gives me the best scope for creating a truly one-of-a-kind cake that your guests will admire and envy. For those who claim not to like fondant, let me assure you that not all brands are created equal. I use a professional-quality icing that is not too sweet, with a subtle citrus flavor and absolutely no chemical aftertaste. Using a layer of chocolate ganache allows me to roll the fondant very thin.

Do you offer tastings?

I offer tastings for wedding cake orders over $500 and celebration cake orders over $750. We will meet to discuss your ideas and I will leave you with a Tasting Box to take away and enjoy in your own time. A Tasting Box contains four flavors of your choice from my Menu, and costs $50, payable in advance of our meeting. The cost is deducted from your invoice, should you book. I regret that I can only offer one tasting box per event. 

Do you deliver?

Of course! Delivery is free within a five mile radius of the bakery, and charged at $1 per mile thereafter. Collection is also available, although some cakes are not suitable for collection. I'm sorry I cannot ship cakes.

How early should I book?

As early as you can! I am usually booked three or four months in advance, but some times of the year are busier than others. If you are looking for a graduation or holiday cake, for example, it's worth enquiring at least six months in advance.

How do I order?
Please complete the Contact Form and include the date of your event, number of guests and theme, if possible. Once I check availability, I will email you to discuss your design and give you an idea of price. If you would like to book, you can then secure the date with a 50% retainer deposit. This can be paid via PayPal, check or cash. The balance of payment is due two weeks before your event.


Please note, no booking is secured without a deposit!
